Dad's, take dental health seriously.
Dads, long story short: my 6 year old daughter had to have a tooth pulled today because of a cavity down to the nerve. It was...traumatic. For both of us.
My daughter has teeth prone to cavities in part because they are very close together and she has a small mouth. She's had a hard time letting the dentist take xrays so we never got an image of this side of her mouth at her last appointment. She had pain this last weekend and we were fortunate to get an appointment today, but the bad news was that the tooth had to come out. It's one of her first child molars (not permanent) but let me tell you I almost cried when the dentist told me the best course of action was to remove the tooth. I felt all the feels for my sweet baby girl.
While it was a family quick process, she was trying to fight the whole way. I had to sit and hold her hands while the dentist worked so she didn't grab at her face. In the end they got it out and as you can see, it's gnarly.
My point; don't sleep on brushing 2x a day and flossing every night. We get tired after long days and probably too many nights of letting my daughter fall asleep on the couch contributed to this. We'll be brushing twice a day and flossing nightly from now on.
Now she's asleep with a note to the tooth fairy about how brave she was today. $10 for a pulled tooth is about right, yeah? 😅
